For those of you who don’t know Dottir is a collaboration between Annie Thorisdottir and Katrin Davidsdottir. DOTTIRS of ICELAND and both 2x Fittest Women in the World. Their goal is to support, inspire and empower the fitness community with their content.

In May they shared a three week core challenge and I decided to try it out! Since lockdown is all about the mental and physical challenges. One of my favourite things about their challenge is that all the workouts are scaled and you can do them at your own pace. Although they do encourage you to do them with as little break in between as possible the focus is always on good form and ensuring a quality workout.

Meeting Katrin Davidsdottir at Fittest In Cape Town 2019

Personally I have neglected core strength training in the past even though I know how important it is. This challenge reminded me that just 2 to 3 short sessions a week focusing on your core can make a really big difference. Each week of the challenge includes three workouts that you can either do them on their own or work them into your full strength training or gym session.

I really enjoyed the three week challenge as it really pushed me out of my comfort zone. Focusing on my core and getting me to do movements/exercises I haven’t tried before. These will now become part of my weekly routine and I will be trying to keep up doing three core sessions.

Why Runners should strengthen their core?

Core strength will help to maintain good posture, and reduce the pains that result from poor posture.

Checkout the Challenge bellow which includes their videos explaining each workout and demonstrating each movement with scaled options.
